Ladies love flowers!
Your loved ones are special all year round, but sometimes it is nice to be spoiled a little and shown just how much your partner cares. What better time of year to make an outward show of affection than on Valentines Day? The 14th February is synonymous with romance and valentines gifts are on everyone’s agenda. You don’t have to spend a fortune, even the smallest valentines gifts, if carefully chosen, can convey exactly how you feel.
There is still a place for the more traditional valentines gifts though; after all they are popular for a reason! A romantic meal, in a restaurant or home cooked, chocolates, flowers and perfume are all perfect gifts but as it is Valentines Day, put a little extra effort in and purchase something from a luxury brand and choose a top quality restaurant. The key to successful valentines gift giving is to make it more special than a similar item you might buy at any time of the year.
Maybe you have a less than traditional partner who may not appreciate these traditional gifts and you will have to think a little harder for a gift that will be appreciated. You could do some research and find a unique gift that is more personal to them and related to any special interests they might have, for example sports enthusiasts would love some top end equipment or music enthusiasts might like some old vinyl record of their favourite albums.
People with special interests often lust after certain items they may never think of buying for themselves. Photographers may lust after a certain camera or lens or collectors would appreciate a new addition to their collection, presumably the rarer the better! A gift will be much more appreciated if it is obvious that some thought has gone into it, regardless of the cost.
Men, as well as women can have a penchant for designer clothing and accessories, although it usually women who have a particular fondness for high end brands, especially in shoes and handbags. If you know your loved one well you may know of a designer item they would love to own, but may not consider spending the money on themselves. Pay special attention to them if you are out shopping or they see an item in a magazine they may helpfully point out to you, it could be a hint!
If you want to purchase some designer goods as valentines gifts make sure they are classics, items that would be considered investment pieces so they will last a lifetime and not just the current season. This way they can be used for years and will always bring back fond memories each time they are used. There are many designers who have produced iconic classic pieces, particularly in handbags.
Of course you may be thinking about the ultimate valentines gift and presenting an engagement ring. If proposing is a surprise you will need to be confident in your ability to choose a ring which is to your partners taste. Or if you are purchasing jewellery in general check out your partners current collection to get a feel for the type of pieces they like. Even better take one of her friends with you as they may have a better idea than you!
No matter what you decide, jewellery, a romantic meal or clothes and accessories the best thing about putting some effort into your Valentines Day gift is the response you get from the recipient, but if you’re too good at gift giving you will be expected to come up trumps every year!
